More about Colon Hydrotherapy

Colon Hydrotherapy

The colon (large intestine), is the end portion of the human digestive tract. The colon is approximately 5 to 5fi feet long and 2fi inches in diameter. Its major functions are to conserve water in the body and to eliminate waste from the body. There are “friendly” bacteria living in the healthy colon which synthesize valuable nutrients such as vitamins ‘K’ and portions of the ‘B’ complex. But unfortunately...The average American does not have a healthy colon!

I’ll bet you didn't know that the average person—one who is neither overweight, nor noticeably allergic to things—may have 10 to 25 pounds of dried fecal matter in their colon! But that’s for someone who is at normal weight for their height and age. If you’re overweight or a highly allergic person, you might be carrying around a lot more than that!

The typical American diet, consisting of high-fat, low-fiber, refined junk foods, including flour, meat, fat, sugar, alcohol, preservatives and toxins, is the primary reason the colon becomes so unhealthy. The toxins generated from accumulated waste matter in the colon, are responsible for many body imbalances which can lead to very serious weight and health problems!

Furthermore, the average American diet includes less than a fraction of the fiber foods necessary to promote elimination of toxins from the body. Poor diet, improper food-combining and lack of dietary fiber make maintenance of a healthy colon virtually impossible.

It is very common to find people with unhealthy and weakened digestive systems! “Virtually all weight challenges can be traced to imbalances in the colon/digestive tract as either a primary contributor, or a secondary problem which accentuates slowdowns in other critical body systems, like the endocrine (glandular) system and the circulatory system.”

Toxins present in the unhealthy colon can be transported into the circulatory system, and soon the body may be unable to properly metabolize food and fat, or to provide vital energy for living!

A classic sign of colon toxicity in women— and one of their most common complaints about their figures—is their potbelly. This condition may be very simple to correct by adopting an improved health regimen. A distended abdomen, may indicate a more serious problem and the presence of a fecal ball in the colon which gathers more and more coatings the longer it remains.

For many people, the signs of a colon dysfunction are so much a part of their everyday living experience that they don’t even suspect their health is in danger!

The colon depicted right is characteristic to a person who consumes mixed-cooked foods, including any average amount of meat and starches.

DO YOU EXPERIENCE ANY OF THESE HEALTH PROBLEMS?

  • constipation
  • diarrhea
  • frequent severe headaches
  • backaches
  • fatigue
  • bad breathe
  • foul body odor
  • irritability
  • frequent mental confusion
  • chronic skin problems
  • abdominal gas and bloating
  • lower back pain
  • sciatic pain
  • low resistance to colds and infections
  • low energy and vitality

These are all indicators, that you may need to cleanse your body's elimination system. Colon hydrotherapy is an excellent way to accomplish this objective!

BENEFITS ACCOMPLISHED BY COLON HYDROTHERAPY

Cleansing
Toxic material is broken down so it can no longer harm your body or inhibit assimilation and elimination. Fecal debris built up over a long period is gently removed over a series of irrigations. Once this impacted material is removed, your colon can again begin its normal elimination function. A colon hydrotherapy session may be considered a rejuvenation treatment for your body.

Exercises
The build up of toxic debris weakens the colon and impairs its function. Gentle filling and emptying of the colon can improve peristaltic (natural muscular contraction) activity, which aids efficient removal of waste material.

Reshapes
Over time, the natural shape of a problematic colon will become distorted causing even more problems. The gentle water action and massage techniques of the therapist will help eliminate protruding pockets of waste and narrow, spastic constrictions. After a series of colon hydrotherapies, the colon gradually begins to resume its natural shape.

Stimulation of Reflex Points
Every system and organ of the body is connected to the colon by reflex points. A colon hydrotherapy session stimulates these reflex points, thereby affecting the corresponding body parts in a beneficial way, similar to reflexology.

Colon Hydrotherapy sounds like it will help people with their health problems. But, I eat a high fiber diet, drink lots of water exercise and eliminate regularly. It couldn’t help me could it? Yes, it can. Waste deposits may remain trapped in your colon for weeks, months or even years, despite following a strict health regimen!

Consider this reported case: During a colon hydrotherapy session, a 54 year-old woman in Atlanta, Georgia discovered that her body had released a residue of barium. But, she was only given barium once, when she was just 7 years old...47 years earlier!Waste deposits may remain trapped in your colon for weeks, months, or even years!
It had remained trapped in her colon for years until the colon hydrotherapy session released it A build-up of old, putrefied fecal waste can block proper digestion, nutrient absorption, waste elimination and provides an excellent breeding ground for gems and parasites.

World-wide, it is estimated that 200 million people are infested by intestinal parasites. Parasites are man’s deadliest enemy; they kill more people annually than do cancers! Symptoms associated with parasite infestation can include restless sleeping, fatigue, poor assimilation and absorption of nutrients, food cravings (especially for sugars and breads), as well as an inability to feel satisfied after a large meal.

THE BEST WAY TO MAINTAIN A HEALTHY COLON AND GOOD DIGESTION

Eat a natural wholesome, high-fiber, low-fat diet.

Drink plenty of pure water daily

Exercise on a regular basis and try to avoid stress.

But this may not be enough.

Consider the benefits of colon Hydrotherapy!

COLONICS? A New Era

From the signal stage of history surrounding ancient Egypt, practices of colon hydrotherapy in their most basic form—enemas or clysters—have provided people with internal cleansings adjunctive to their personal external hygiene.

The Ebers Papyrus, from the 14th century BC prescribes internal cleansing for no less than twenty stomach and intestinal complaints.

But, in the modern era it fell to J.H. Kellogg, MD, of Battle Creek, Michigan, famous for his invention of corn flakes and various techniques of good hygiene, to popularize colon hydrotherapy of his article in the Journal of the American Medical Association praising the procedure’s efficacy for saving a dysfunctional large bowel.

That descriptive article was the impetus for advancement of a highly beneficial therapeutic method which has since flourished and found recognition among enlightened health professionals in Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and North America. Enthusiastic expressions of approval for colon Hydrotherapy are undeniable medical endorsements for this significant complementary treatment which removes metabolic waste from a person’s large bowel without applying toxic agents of any kind.

So what’s been the evolution of this illustrious modality in Florida? Well, you can credit those like Helen Woods’s gravity fed system to the closed pressure system of the Dotolo group and others for their substantial contribution in the early and subsequent years of the profession. The latest technology to become well established in the state is what is known as the “LIBBE” System, which is FDA registered. It is considered to be a major advancement in gravity-fed technology and used widely across the United States and Internationally. It is a “hands free” semi-automated system, built-in safety features and without the problem of blowouts so clients don’t ever have to interrupt their session to relocate to the nearest toilet. Therapists are liberated to perform foot and abdominal work during the colonic, which has been limited or impossible with other systems. Susan Darnold, Director of the Body Logic Institute of Florida, Inc. in St. Augustine is the first colon Hydrotherapy School and Clinic to use and teach on this system in Florida Its impact appears to be establishing a whole new era in Colonic Irrigation for the state, not only because of the LIBBE system but also the Institute’s additional adaptation utilizing patented water processing that is not 1 micron, but .1 micron purification which is equivalent to kidney dialysis. Further this process produces a highly active alkaline water which has drastically improved viscosity for assimilation via far-infrared, magnitzation, and mineralization for direct uptake through the colon wall. It is the first Clinic in the country to use such an enhancement.

Mrs. Darnold points out that Florida has had little choice in the type of colonic equipment used to date, until now. Upon moving here from Texas some years ago, she has observed what she gauges as a lack of education by the community, certified therapists, the availability and choice of advanced equipment available to Floridia therapists; all the while as the profession of certified colonics has been flourishing elsewhere in the U.S. and abroad. She states that it’s almost like colonics in Florida has had a negative “stigma” , which must be overcome by breaching the status quo in the state. Mrs. Darnold admonishes the fact that Florida has been left out of the improvement loop in the industry.

Certified Colon Hydrotherapy in today’s world is the safest, cleanest, most effective and more comfortable process than ever. I-ACT (International Association Of Colon Hydrotherapy) therapists are able to get professional liability insurance, which recently has created a dilemma for some. I-ACT insures the highest standard of training in the business and requires all therapists to use only FDA registered equipment.

More and more the medical community and insurance companies are embracing these adjunct therapies. “It has come a long way and it’s now a full-time six figure income” says Mrs. Darnold. It is tremendous potential for LMT’s to diversify and reduce the physical stress of massage. It improves the therapist’s value to their client base. Body Logic Institute in St. Augustine reports exponential growth, and is actively recruiting students to fill their own demands for service in central and northeast Florida, while also offering such training opportunity to massage therapists throughout Florida. Classes coincide with the State’s exam schedule and August will host the last class before that deadline.

Why the sudden growth?

Can this technology make that big a difference? It can and apparently is as Body Logic Institute Of Florida Inc., and the “LIBBE” System was recently represented and well received at the FSMTA Convention in Orlando.
But, Mrs. Darnold explains that it is more than that. The equipment is a big part of the equation but it is the education that really makes the difference. As a Nutritionist and Instructor in the field of Colon Hydrotherapy she points out that mainstream America has little knowledge of basic anatomy and physiology of digestive processes.

She stresses to the public that “disease” doesn’t just happen.. it is “created”, over a period of time. Mrs. Darnold is quick to emphasize a well supported theory of the eventual and possible fatal results of “Autointoxication” a condition whereby the body has reached a carrying capacity of toxicity due to poor diet, impaired digestion, stress, food additives, parasites, medications and other factors that allows undigested food and toxic chemicals to buildup and literally putrefy and ferment in the bowel for years. Known as the “silent killer” these resulting poisons dump into the blood stream on a continual basis, leach through the colon wall and subsequently impacts the liver along with whole health. Further, digestion, assimilation and elimination processes can be seriously affected as well as an attack on the bodies metabolic balance and immune system.

Mrs. Darnold states clearly that gone uncorrected, it leads to chronic illness and degenerative disease, especially cancer. Even those that go through life relatively symptom free and then suddenly are afflicted with a life or death situation.. it is not a matter of “if’ but “when”.

But, what about genetics and heredity? It has a role, but not as big a role as one would think. Traits of inherited illness is a pre-disposition or “weak link” if you will. Simply stated, if the body is not healthy then that is where the illness will show up, or as most people see it as family history repeating itself. A paradigm shift is taking place in this country and people are assuming more responsibility for their own health, as everyone should. As a result many are successfully avoiding the ill-fate of past love ones.

Erosion within the whole medical health care system, millions without health insurance, surgeons walking off the job due to sky rocketing malpractice costs. Americans are being forced to play a larger role in their health; which is a good thing. Rapidly, health care is becoming more integrative, rightfully so; and invasive medicine will take on a more of a “last resort” role rather than the first step in treatment. It will always have it’s place, especially in trauma care, where the United States is probably the best in the world when it comes to emergency services. However, this massive economic driven medical system is surrendering to inevitable change because of its failure to return quickly to the philosophy of prevention and whole health, which has been the doctrine for centuries.

So what advice does the Institute give to the heralded Massage Therapists of Florida? You know most of it already, eat a diet of fresh whole foods, avoid chemical additives, drink plenty of good water between meals, encompass various methods of stress reduction (i.e. massage, exercise, yoga, meditation, hobbies, reading, writing, mind clearing), establish goals and make a plan. Lastly, invest in your future, join the new era in Colonies! Mrs. Darnold says that she caunot think of a better modality than Certified Colon Hydrotherapy to serve the absolute foundation of health and mankind. Many tell her that providing state-of-the-art colonics is the most rewarding work they have ever done, and she agrees wholeheartedly. “To watch the transition of client’s to restored health and vitality in often rapid time is nothing short of divinity”. “And the support it lends to the effectiveness and longevity of other modalities is remarkable”.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING A COLON HYDROTHERAPY SESSION?

Colon Hydrotherapy is the safe, gentle infusion of water into the colon via the rectum.

No chemicals or drugs are involved and the entire therapy is both relaxing and effective. During therapy the client lies on a custom treatment table in complete comfort. From the hydrotherapy equipment, a small disposable speculum is gently inserted into the rectum through which warm filtered water passes into the colon.

Modern state-of-the-art colon hydrotherapy units employ multi-stage water purifIcation systems, individual disposables which eliminate any possible contamination to the client from a previous treatment, a lighted viewing chamber and a system for additive administration.

These are closed systems, so waste is discretely transported into the drain line without offensive odor and without comprising the dignity of the individual. After each therapy session, the unit is thoroughly cleansed and disinfected in preparation for future use.

A skilled colon hydrotherapist will use several fills and releases of water, as well as light massage techniques, to dislodge toxic waste matter adhering to the walls of the colon. The dislodged fecal impactions are then gently washed away though the system’s waste disposal hose.

During the therapy, water temperature and pressure will be monitored by the therapist and can be varied to stimulate peristalsis (muscular contraction) in the colon. This is very important to help the atonic (sluggish) colon. Properly administered, Colon Hydrotherapy is not addictive. It encourages the restoration of the colon’s natural function by strengthening peristalsis.

Each colon hydrotherapy session lasts approximately 45 minutes and one should allow at least one hour per office visit. Initially, a series of at least three separate therapy sessions is usually recommended, to achieve the maximum cleansing benefit. This helps to eliminate fecal matter which may have been lodged in the colon for weeks, months, or even years, and to keep the client properly hydrated.

With colon hydrotherapy, the entire large intestine is cleansed and the therapeutic benefits are much greater than those achieved with an enema. Enema cleansings are limited to the rectum area and due to the body’s natural wish to expel, are limited in duration. Over-the-counter suppositories stimulate expulsion of the contents of the rectum, but contribute to dehydration which may exacerbate a constipated condition.

During a typical colon hydrotherapy session, about 25 to 35 gallons of water will be transported into and out of the colon. Using a combination of abdominal massage (if consented), reflexology, breathing instruction and relaxation techniques, the colon therapist is often able to promote elimination of a volume of toxic waste, which would not otherwise be possible through individual efforts.

Just one colon hydrotherapy session may be equivalent to having 20 or 30 regular bowel movements. Eliminations during subsequent therapy sessions can be even more substantial as older, hardened, impacted feces are dislodged from the colon walls.

The colon hydrotherapist will carefully evaluate the client’s progress during their session to determine if additional sessions would be beneficial. After a therapy session, many people report a feeling of heightened energy, an increased sense of well-being and renewed vitality. Almost certainly your colon will be cleaner; you may experience easier eliminations and your overall health status should be improved.

Colon hydrotherapy provides a proven way to cleanse your colon, and thereby to increase your chances of maintaining optimal health. But maintaining good health is an ongoing process which requires diligence. After the initial series of colon hydrotherapy sessions, you may be well advised to seek a colon hydrotherapy every three to six months. In this way, you can maintain the benefits achieved during your first colon hydrotherapy sessions, as well as maintain a strong functioning colon. Your colon therapist should be able to suggest a reasonable schedule depending on your personal health status and desire for further therapy.

With some patience and discipline--including the help of an experienced Certified Colon Hydrotherapist—you have an opportunity to overcome serious health problems and start living a strong, healthy, disease free life.

If you or anyone you know are suffering any of the health problems mentioned above— including under or overweight challenges—you may be well advised to contact a Certified Colon Hydrotherapist in your area.
